First Notice of Loss

I would like
to inform you
that I have lost
my mind, my
heart. I have
run aground
against this
obstacle world
and found it
too immobile
to overcome.
I have lost books,
memories (many),
opportunities,
and hopes, but
slowly learned
the subtle ways
life recompenses
the living for
these inevitable
things we must
surrender.
