Back to NaPoWriMo 2019: Car Insurance
Risk
Another equation:
cost vs. benefit. We risk
so much in order to feel
the weight of roadway
slipping away, near-flight
as we cross endless miles.
Yet elsewhere in our lives
we risk very little. Why?
Is it because we can’t pay
to mitigate other kinds
of risk? Or do we just
feel more keenly the risk
of failure, misunderstanding,
not being right? These
human risks seem somehow
more real than the crash,
the mortal danger of these
transported lives of ours.
