Hogwash
Your poems sometimes
feel like they mean
very little, especially
during days writing
on the road, your eyes
tired, pen etching
out of only necessity.
On these days you try
to lure some secret
from its lair, capture
meaning where none
is evident. Often
little comes of this,
but on these days,
you learn a lesson
of another flavor:
self-forgiveness.
