eyes always
steady gray,
an overlook
we glanced
up at, in-
sufficient
in our bleary
shuffle over
the faded
linoleum. 
Ambrosial
light bathed
her in waves
we thought
practice could
perfect in us,
as if we were
anything alike,
as if our stone
feet could be
more than
always only
about to dance.
