of remote work. How long
can the camera stay off,
the paychecks feeding
some feline desire: catnip
or new nap opportunities.
He rarely speaks, a yowl
of disapproval signaling
his usual contribution
to meetings. He purrs
through each sunlit day,
appears by all indication
to be busy, and if chimps
and typewriters are to be
trusted, how much more
the clear sense of this cat,
member of a species
so adept at taking hold
in the strange social rituals
of human society?
