Back to NaPoWriMo 2019: Car Insurance
Car Insurance Provider as Costly Beloved
I made a contract
with you, to be kept
safe and protected.
We bound ourselves
to one another —
I offered you myself,
all of my potential,
every month of labor
given up in your name,
and you carried me,
my risk on your back.
We were happy, until
you told me it wasn’t
enough, that my gifts
no longer satiated you.
You wanted so much
more of me. I needed
you, and for this,
your policy of breaking,
I broke myself. I gave
everything for renewal.
