Faster than his hairline
he slips backward
into the green hedge,

because sometimes
it would be better
to vanish, to melt

into static scenery
like snow in spring,
to thaw his body

into non-being
because existing
in time and space

is so difficult,
and it’s incredible
how much we all
can relate.
