Back to NaPoWriMo 2020: The Fast and Furious Franchise

Art

I watch the cars in the movie
hurled into the air, playthings
of fictional physics and almost
childlike storytelling, a drive
to collide tons of screaming
metal in as many ludicrous
ways as possible. I derive
an incoherent degree of glee
from this: I yell and laugh
at the magical audacity of it,
and I’m so grateful for access
to a kind of joy this visceral,
a lack of subtlety so profound
that it becomes wondrous art.
